Ask for Recommendations

One of the best ways to find a reliable commercial snow plowing service is by asking for recommendations from the people you know. Ask any fellow business owners that you know and trust if they can recommend a Great River, NY commercial snow removal contractor. If so, inquire about the services the company provided, whether they were satisfied with the results they delivered, and if they would recommend using the service for your own Suffolk County business. Word-of-mouth recommendations are one of the best ways to find all kinds of service providers, including snow plowing contractors. Why? Because you can usually depend on the people you know and trust to provide you with reliable information.

Research

If you don’t know any fellow business owners who can recommend Great River, NY commercial snow removal contractors, check online. The internet is an invaluable research tool and can be used to find pretty much any product or service you need, including commercial snow plowing services. Do a quick search for “snow removal services in Suffolk County”, “snow plowing near me”, or any other similar query and it’s pretty much guaranteed that several companies will show up in your results. Take the time to visit the websites of a few contractors. Check to see if you can find any information about their credentials, the services they offer, the type of equipment they use, a portfolio of their work, and even testimonials from past clients.

You should also consider checking online review sites for prospective commercial snow plowing companies that service the Suffolk County area. Sites like Home Advisor and Angie’s List provide unbiased customer reviews of companies that service a wide range of industries, including commercial snow removal in Great River, NY. These sites also feature company overviews and links to websites.

Schedule Interviews

Once you’ve found a few Great River, NY commercial snow removal companies that you’re interested in using, get in touch with each one. Ask a representative from each company some key questions about the services they provide, as well as their experience and credentials. Examples of some questions to consider asking include:

  • Are you licensed and insured?
  • How long have you been in business?
  • How do your snow plowing services work?
  • Do you offer any other snow removal services in addition to plowing?
  • Do you provide on-site consultations?
  • Do you track the weather?
  • Do you offer contracts?
  • What rates do you charge?
  • What are your rates?
  • How do payments work?
  • Do you have references I can contact?

Include any other questions that you feel are pertinent. Write down the answers each company provides and then review and compare their answers. In addition to the answers that each contractor provides, you should also consider the impression they made; for example, were they friendly, did the same knowledgeable, if you had to leave a message, did they get back to you quickly, and were they able to answer all of your questions? Use the information you acquire from the consultation process to determine which Great River, NY commercial snow removal company will best suit your needs.

Great River is a suburban hamlet and CDP in the Town of Islip in Suffolk County, New York, United States. It is situated approximately 50 miles (80 km) east of New York City on the South Shore of Long Island, adjoining the Great South Bay, protected from the Atlantic Ocean by Fire Island.

For centuries, the Algonquin people inhabited Long Island. A sub-division of the Algonquins known as the Secatogue ( Mohegan (L.I.)) tribe occupied all of the area in what is now the town of Islip. Their principal villages were at West Islip (Secatogue), Bay Shore (Penataquit), and Oakdale (Connetquot).

On November 29, 1683, William Nicoll (Nicolls), founder of the Town of Islip and son of New York City Mayor Matthias Nicoll, was awarded the first royal patent to the east end of what is now the Town of Islip. Nicoll purchased land from Sachem (Paramount chief) Winnequaheagh of Connetquot. He named his 50,000-acre (20,000 ha) plantation (an 8-by-10-mile (13 by 16 km) tract of land) “Islip Grange”, in honor of his ancestral home of Islip (UK) in East Northamptonshire, England, from which Matthias emigrated in 1664. Nicoll’s domain extended from East Islip to Bayport and embraced the present-day communities of Sayville, West Sayville, Oakdale, Great River, Islip Terrace, Central Islip, Hauppauge, Holbrook, Bohemia, Brentwood, Holtsville, and a portion of Ronkonkoma. Nicoll paid an annual quit-rent (tax) to Thomas Dongan, 2nd Earl of Limerick and Governor of the Province of New York, of five bushels of good winter wheat or twenty-five (25) shillings payable annually on March 25.

Other early land patentees were Andrew Gibb (Islip hamlet), John Mowbray (Bay Shore, originally Awixa), Stephan Van Cortlandt (Sagtikos Manor), and Thomas Willets (West Islip).
