Are you licensed and insured?

First and foremost, you’re going to want to make sure that the contractor you hire is licensed and insured. A license confirms that they have the necessary training and experience to deliver quality results, and that they adhere to any New York regulations. Insurance protects you from having to cover the cost of any issues that may arise. If the professional damages your property while they’re clearing snow and ice, or if they sustain any injuries while they’re working on your Nassau County property, for example, their insurance will cover any related costs.

Don’t just ask if prospective contractors are licensed and insured; ask to see proof and confirm the validity of both. A reputable Westbury, NY commercial snow removal service will gladly honor your request. If any of the companies you speak with won’t provide proof of their license and insurance, consider that a red flag and cross them off your list.

What kind of equipment do you use?

You’re also going to want to inquire about the equipment that prospective commercial snow removal contractors use. While no two companies are the same and equipment will likely vary from company to company, a good Westbury, NY commercial snow removal service will a variety of high-quality, state-of-the-art, and dependable tools and equipment; snow plows, snow blowers, front-end loaders, skid steers, salters, blade attachments, and shovels, for example. They’ll be able to tell you about the equipment they use, and what kind of equipment to quickly and efficiently clear your Nassau County property.

What about ice melt?

A dependable Westbury, NY commercial snow removal company won’t just plow and shovel; they’ll take all of the necessary measures to remove existing ice buildup and to prevent future ice from developing. Be sure to ask each of the commercial snow removal contractors about the de-icing processes they use. Do they use salt, sand, or another type of ice-melting product? A reputable company will provide a detailed answer, indicating that they really know what they’re doing.

Will you monitor the weather?

You should also find out of any of the companies you’re considering will monitor the weather for you. For example, if snow is in the forecast, will they let you know ahead of time and make arrangements to clear your Nassau County business, or will you need to contact them when the forecast calls for snow and schedule an appointment? Choosing a Westbury, NY commercial snow removal company that does the latter – monitors the weather and makes arrangements with you ahead of time – would be in your best interest. Why? Because it not only takes the burden off of your shoulders, but it also ensures that your property will be cleared of snow and ice so you have one less thing to worry about.

Do you have references?

Finally, make sure to ask any of the commercial snow removal contractors that you’re considering hiring if they can provide you with references. Take the time to contact a few of their references and inquire about the services the company provides, the quality of work they deliver, and their reliability. Any reputable Westbury, NY commercial snow removal company will readily provide a list of references. If any of the companies you’re considering don’t, consider that a red flag and cross them off your list.

Westbury is a village in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 15,404 at the 2020 census.

The first settlers arrived in 1658 in the region known as the Hempstead Plains. Many of the early settlers were Quakers.

Westbury’s Jericho Turnpike, which provides connection to Mineola and Syosset as well as to the Long Island Expressway (or LIE), was once a trail used by the Massapequa Indians. As far back as the 17th century, it served as a divider between the early homesteads north of the Turnpike and the Hempstead Plains to its south. Today, it serves as a state highway complex.

In 1657, Captain John Seaman purchased 12,000 acres (49 km2) from the Algonquian Tribe of the Massapequa Indians. In 1658, Richard Stites and his family built their homestead in this area. Theirs was the only family farm until an English Quaker, Edmond Titus, and his son Samuel joined them and settled in an area of Hempstead Plains, known today as the Village of Westbury. In 1675 Henry Willis, also an English Quaker, named the area “Westbury”, after Westbury, Wiltshire, his hometown in England. Other Quaker families who were also seeking a place to freely express their religious beliefs joined the Tituses and Willises. The first Society of Friends meeting house was built in 1700. The early history of Westbury and that of the Friends are so interconnected that they are essentially the same.
